Bauchi Electricity Consumers Decry Tariff Hike

Consumers of Electricity in Bauchi state have lamented the high increase of tarrif without a corresponding services being rendered, as Jos electricity distribution attributed the problems to the federal government policy on energy consumption.

The customers made the complains at a forum with different communities to fine-tune on lingering issues faced by the two parties, organized by Jos Electricity Distribution Company JED in Bauchi.

Speaking to some journalist a Bauchi a resident and customer within the metropolitan lamented over the poor distribution of power supply in some parts of the state, as well as issues of prepaid meters, calling on the company to look inward and improve on their services.

Others, also complaint over delay in re-installing of the electricity polls which mostly cause power outage and distructions of properties and issuence of different charges on individuals as the case may be.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the costumers forum Alhaji Hassan encourage more effort for constant dialogue between the authority and the electricity consumer to resolve issues affecting members of the society.

However, the Regional Manager of Jos Electricity Distribution JED Engineer Hamisu Jigawa explained that it is not their fault in some areas, as sometimes things go beyond their control.

He also urges the customers to bear with the new tariff, and called for inclusiveness in helping the company towards safeguarding their facilities for the benefit of all.

The forum also commended the media for their significant roles in the area of enlightenment hence expressed the need to build a stronger partnership being critical stakeholders.
