USAID State2State Organizes 3-Day Disability Inclusion Awareness Training

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded activity "State Accountability, Transparency and Effectiveness (State2State) has organized a 3-day Disability Inclusion Awareness Training in Bauchi.

The training which commences on Tuesday 31st May, 2022 at Hazibal Suites Hall in Bauchi State capital, is aimed at addressing gaps and barriers for persons with disabilities.

In her welcome address, state team lead of the Activity, Rabi Ekele said the objective of the training was to help organizations develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to ensure project initiatives effectively address the needs, priorities, and rights of beneficiaries with disabilities and to train other team members and project partners to do the same.

Ekele also said that State2State Activity is very particular about social inclusion in all their areas of focus that cut across basic education, primary healthcare and WASH.

“We are very excited to have this array of participants joining us for this awareness training and i do hope it would add value to your respective organizations with a view to imbibing social inclusion culture in organisational structures and implementation of your programs and activities”, she said.

Also speaking, the gender and social inclusion specialist of State2State Bauchi field office, Hassana Lawal Bello informed the participants that day One of the training will focus on the concept of disability and inclusion legal frameworks at both national and international levels.

Bello added that key topics around Impairment, barriers, disabilities approaches and other related topics relevant to training will be taken.

Other topics that day one of training intends to treat, according to the gender and social inclusion specialist includes: The convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability (CRPD) and the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act of 2018.
