'Address Nigeria's Security Problem or We Impeach You'- NASS to Buhari

Leaders of the minority factions in the House of Representatives have joined their counterparts in the Senate in giving President Muhammadu Buhari six weeks to solve the security problem or be impeached.

The leader of the minority in the House, Ndudi Elumelu, said this after a private meeting with his fellow senators on Thursday.

Honorable Elumelu said that as long as the president fails to take decisive action that will see a change in the security situation in the country, they will start taking steps to impeach him.

Besides the security problem, the minority leader also drew the government's attention to the state of the country as a whole, which includes the issue of the falling value of the Naira against foreign currencies and the problems in the air transport sector.

On Wednesday, members of the Senate mostly from the minority side left the chamber, after the leader of the minority Philip Aduda asked the Speaker of the House Ahmed Lawan to give him the opportunity to present the request to discuss the issue of security and seek the impeachment of President Buhari.

At that time, the president of the parliament refused to give him the opportunity and said that the request was not appropriate at all, which angered the non-members and left the hall.

After this, they stated that they gave the president six weeks to overcome the security problem or face impeachment.
