Bauchi Health workers have appealed to residents to cooperate with them while discharging their responsibilities, especially when patients with critical condition are referred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
They made the appeal after the inauguration of Bauchi state Medical Oxygen Committee to address shortage of oxygen in secondary health facilities in the state.
The Oxygen committee is setup to provide technical assistance to assess needs and identify optimal Oxygen delivery system at facility level.
Chairman of the 20 man Committee Dr. Robinson Yusuf says the effort came through Clinton Health Access Initiative in Collaboration with UNICEF which donated oxygen equipments. They realised the need to address the gap by eatablishing oxygen plants to cater for the state own health facilities.
Similarly, during the handing over of the equipment, which comprises of 51 Cylinders and 1,274 Nasal Prongs Cannula, the Permanent Secretary Dr. Ali BABAyo Bauchi state Ministry of health also expressed thier readiness to utilize the equipments judiciously.
Earlier, the representative of the Clinton Health Access Initiative, Dr. Nazeef Mohammed says they learnt of the huge gap in supply of oxygen and therefore decided to help the people in secondary health facilities in the state.
According to them two oxygen plants will be established in the state owned specialists hospital and Ali kwara General Hospital in Bauchi and Azare. Local government areas.
