Combating Killer Diseases: Gombe State Gov't to Partner with Donor Agencies

The state deputy governor Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, Ph.D has expressed government readiness to collaborating with the international donor agencies to improve the health of the state population especially in the ongoing integrated vaccination in the state.

Dr Jatau gave the assurance when he received in audience the state Taskforce Committee on Immunization and Vaccination against killer diseases such as measles, meningitis, yellow fever and COVID-19 

He said the state government under governor Inuwa Yahaya is determined to pull resources together in other to have an effective and efficient health services to all people of the state devoid of their location .

He lamented on the adverse effects of the Boko Haram devastation in the North East region which forced hundreds of thousands people to flee their communities to Gombe state thereby overstretching facilities in the state especially in the health sector. 

He appreciated the support of the development partners and the National Primary Health Care Developedment Agency for the numerous interventions saying that was coincided with the determination of the state government which made health its first priority since inception.

The deputy governor who assured the task force committee and the development partners of unwavering support of the state government to enable them achieve target of this noble assignment.

Dr Jatau equally requested for more support and collaboration to ensure an improved health system in the state emphasised that already a closemark monitoring mechanism has been put in place to achieving that goal.

Earlier, the lead team of the development partners Dr Hamidreza Setayesh of Gavi Vaccine Alliance expressed delight with the commitment of the state government as regards health issues generally not only immunization saying that is in conformity with the United Nations Development Goals.

He expressed satisfaction with what they have seen on the field especially in targetted areas, graded Gombe state high on that efforts and assured of working in synergy to achieving the ultimate goals.

The state commissioner of Health Dr Habu Dahiru had earlier intimated the deputy governor on the numerous interventions of the development partners in the health sector saying that it has drastically improved health care services in the state within a short time and prayed that the collaboration is yielding a remarkable and tremendous results and remain hopeful it will last longer.
