FG Suspends Acting AG for Revealing Government's Secret

The federal government has suspended the acting Accountant General Chukwuyere N. Anamekwe where he was replaced by Mr. Okolieaboh Ezeoke Sylvis, a former director of the TSA (Treasury Single Account).

Reports say the acting accountant-general has reportedly been under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The government is also said to be unhappy with some of his statements, saying Nigeria is borrowing money to pay salaries.

Anamekwe, who was appointed to the interim post on May 22 after the EFCC arrested the country's accountant general, Ahmed Idris, on charges of corruption and N80 billion, made the statement on May 14. June, of 2022, and seven days later it was removed.

Mr Sylva, who is currently acting Accountant General, reports that he will retire in the first three months of next year, 2023.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has already launched a bid for the appointment of a new Accountant General, according to sources.

The Nation reports that all efforts to find out the truth of Anamekwe's claim that the government borrow money to pay salaries have failed.
