Gombe: APC Reconciliation Committee Meets, Pacifies Aggrieved Parties

Recently, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has innaugurated a Committee under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Governor, Manassah Daniel Jatau, Ph.D, with a mandate to identify and pacify aggrieved members after the party's Congresses and Primary elections at all levels.

Shortly after the inauguration, the Committee swung into action in line wth their terms of reference by reconstituting themselves into four sub- Committees namely, National sub Committee; to handle those who had grievances during the conduct of National Assembly Positions, while the three other sub-committees to take care of the three Senatorial Districts of the state.

Shading more light on the level of their assignment, the Chairman of the main Reconciliation Committee, Manassah Daniel Jatau, disclosed that, the assignment before them is tasking and needs to be handled with wisdom and care considering that an aggrieved party should be approached carefully and amicably.

Jatau went on further to highlight that, the committee shall meet all those identified as having grievances, adding however that those who may not appear before them shall be located where they are based with a view to solicit for their cooperation and understanding for the benefit of the unity of the party.

He said, the Committee was given two weeks within which to complete their assignment, and assured of meeting up to their mandate inspite of challenges being encountered while carrying out the assignment, especially that Sallah break may obstruct their assignment.

The Chairman Manassah Daniel Jatau commended the zeal and efforts put in place by the 21- Member Committee since they commenced their assignment and appealed to them not to relent.

Some of those who contested the Membership of the House of Representatives and appeared before the committee include, Immediate Past Commissioner of Information, Hon. Julius Ishaya Lapes, Mr. Yila Saidu Mohammed Fawu and Rebecca Audu who commended the reconciliation exercise embarked upon by the party.

The subcommittee in charge of Gombe North Senatorial District was headed by Muhammad Kabir Usman Kukandaka . The Committee visited all the Local Governments in the area starting from Dukku, Nafada, Funakaye, Kwami and Gombe where they met with identified aggrieved party members.

In his address during the visit, Muhammad Kukandaka stressed the need for all members of the party to put behind all their grievances in order to ensure success of the party in the general elections.

He urged those who won at the elections to embrace those who lost so that there should be a sense of belonging and spirit of inclusion for the benefit of the party.

He appreciated the members for responding to the call for reconciliation soliciting for their support towards success of the party.

Responding separately in Funakaye and Nafada Local Governments, the Local Government Chairmen, Musa Abubakar Babawuro, and Alh. Musa Masad Biri appreciated the initiative of the APC and the Governor for setting up the Committee to pacify aggrieved party members with a view to restoring unity in the party.

Those who contested for the seats of State House of Assembly in the two local governments Babangida Adamu Jigawa, Abubakar Usman Bappa, Bappa Usman Jurara, Idris Kupto, Mohammed Ibrahim Bage, Aliyu Lamido and Garba Zaki expressed appreciation to the Governor for having the interest of the party at heart and setting up the Committee. They promised to joined hands with those who emerged as flag bearers of the party at all levels.

In Kwami and Gombe Local Governments the committee was received warmly and the respondents showed commitment to the reconciliation process, pledging their total support to the party.

Some of the aspirants who contested for State House of Assembly and spoke during the visit include, Jabir Saleh Kilawa, and Isa Abubakar Malleri. They said that, they have forgiven and assured the party that they shall work for the progress and it's success during the coming elections.

Meanwhile the sub-committee for the reconciliation of the aggrieved APC members in Gombe Central senatorial zone has recorded success in Akko Local government by amicably resolving all differences arising from the conduct of the party primaries of state house of Assembly 

Addressing a gathering of stakeholders of the APC in Kumo the local government headquarters, chairman of the committee Alhaji Adamu Jani Bello said there is another committee to handle grievances that might have raised from the National Assembly and senatorial primaries which is headed by the deputy governor Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau himself 

Jani told the stakeholders that there is an eminent need of all party loyalists to work together so that they will keep the party flag flying 

He emphasized that in every contest there must be a winner and a looser but in this case he levelled all those who contested as heroes that is why the party cannot afford to loose their valor to others

He assured those who failed to clinch the party flag to remain resolute and keep faith in the party because their future is bright and informed them of governor Yahaya assurances of carrying them along.

Alhaji Jani Adamu told those who won the primaries of the state house of Assembly to personally visit the looser and sort for their support and that of their followers so that they can work in synergy to make their victory easier to the party during the election.

Speaking, those who emerged party candidates Musa Mohd Wurobiriji and Abdullahi Abubakar Maiwanka appreciated the method and efforts taken by the state governor Alhaji Muhummadu Inuwa Yahaya to reconcile members of any difference 

They said they are so confident that with the effort put in place and the encouragement they are getting from their erstwhile opponents the future is bright for the party

Speaking on behalf of others who lost at the primaries Muhammad Abubakar Bomala thanked governor Yahaya for setting up the committee adding that they were convinced with the committees work and assured to work towards the success of the party 

In a remark, the Akko council chairman Abubakar Usman Barambu thanked the governor and the committee for uniting the members and promised to do everything within his powers to ensure the success of the party.

The Gombe South Senatorial District, APC Reconciliation Committee has met with aggrieved contestants of the party in Billiri Shongom and Kaltungo and Balanga Local Government Areas with a view to pacifying them .

Addressing the aggrieved members in Billiri Local Government Area, the sub committee chairman in charge of Gombe South Abubakar Dantata explains that the Reconciliation move was initiated by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya in the interest of peace tranquility and togetherness in rank and file of the APC in the State. 

"Determine to ensure an effective Reconciliation process Governor Inuwa Yahaya aside from setting up this committee to interface with you, he has equally approved compensation to aggrieved contestants and appointment letters to all you all."

Abubakar Dantata appeal to the aggrieved contestants to sheath their swords while prevailing on their supporters to channel their energies and strategies in support of the party flag bearer in particular and the APC in general. 

Impressed by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya magnanimity an aspirant who contested in Billiri West Ishaya Ibrahim described gesture at reconciling aggrieved contestants as legendary and unprecedented.

"For this reason of the Governor's far reaching gesture i Ishaya Ibrahim hereby donate my compensation to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya second term campaign organisation."

He assured the committee and Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya that Billiri Local Government Area will do everything necessary to ensure APC's victory at all levels in the State and the country. 


In Shongom Local Government Area the message from the sub committee chairman Abubakar Dantata revolves around forgiveness unity and the need for all hands to be on deck for the victory of the party in the forthcoming general election. 

Responding on behalf of other aggrieved contestants in Shongom Local Government Area Mr. Buba Shawara appreciated Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for initiating the Reconciliation process in a more effective manner. 

While in Kaltungo, the chairman of the sub committee call for a united front ahead of the 2023 general elections. 

Aggrieved contestants including the member representing Kaltungo West Jibrin Barau thanked Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for deeming it necessary to Inaugurate the committee aimed at deepening the already existing fraternity in the party.

In an interview at the end of the interactive sessions the Secretary to the main committee Dr. Mohammed Bello thanked the aggrieved members for their maturity understanding and forth rightness. 

Earlier in their address of welcome the chairman of Billiri Local Government Area Margaret Bitrus that of Shongom Yohanna Nahari and his Kaltungo counterpart Faruk Aliyu Kabo maintain that the Reconciliation committee will go a long way to address the seeming grievances that arose in the just concluded APC Primaries election.
