Gombe Deputy Governor Calls for Security Vigilance

The Gombe State Deputy Governor, Manassah Daniel Jatau,Ph.D has noted the need for communities to be on red alert in view of recent security challenges facing the country.

The Deputy Governor who was addressing the officials of Kwami Community Development Association when they paid him a courtesy visit in his office, said security is paramount to human existence and must be considered with all seriousness.

He called on all the communities in the state to be vigilant and report suspecting people and movements to security agencies so as to forestall any breach of the peace that may result in loss of lives and properties.

Dr. Jatau also intimated the officials of Kwami Community Development Association of government's plan to drill Boreholes in their communities to minimize problems of water shortage in the area.

The Deputy Governor called on the people in the state to get their Permanent Voter Cards in preparation for the forthcoming general elections.

He added that, the PVC will give them the opportunity to vote for candidates of their choice, pointing out that the forthcoming elections is going to be very different from the past, as each vote will count.

Responding on the appeal made by the Kwami Community the Deputy Governor said, the state Government in collaboration with the National Boundary Commission is fixing the interstate boundary problems and once that is completed they will swing into action concerning interstate boundaries, appealing to the areas affected to be patient for now.

Speaking earlier, the Secretary of the Association, Prof. Abdulhameed Auwal said they were in the Deputy Governor's Office to appreciate and identify with the administration over projects across the state and especially in Kwami LGA.

He said the people of Kwami have benefitted from a lot of Government projects which have impacted positively on the lives of the people.

He appealed to the State Government to salvage the community from age-long perennial water problem by drilling Boreholes in the area.

He also appealed to the Government to consider wading into the boundary problem between Kwami and Gombe Local Governments at the points of NEPA Sub Station , and graveyards along Bajoga road, saying that timely intervention would forestall any sharp misunderstanding for the benefit of peaceful coexistence in the state.
