Voter Registration to Close on 31st July - INEC

The Independent Electoral Commission INEC said it will close the voter registration on the 31st of July.

Festus Okoye, the Chief Commissioner of the National Electoral Commission, said this on Friday in Abuja.

The decision comes after a high court in Abuja, dismissed the case filed by SERAP, an anti-corruption group.

The SERAP group is asking the court to compel the electoral commission to extend the deadline for the registration that is going on across the country.

Okoye said the court confirmed that the Electoral Commission has the right to set the closing date for registration as stipulated in the new 2022 Electoral Act.
