JUST IN: 7,000 APC Members in Bauchi Defect to PDP

Mass defection rocked the Bauchi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday as 7,000 members of the party in Bauchi Local Government Areas of the state defected to the rulling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). 

Leader of the defectors, Mallam Adamu Dako, in company of his mass supporters said they decided to join the main opposition party due to what he described as injustice meted on them by the APC leadership. 

Dako who was tagged Youth leader has group of supporters among youths and women said they left the party because of undemocratic principles of its leaders.

He pledged to work towards the success of PDP in the forth coming 2023 general elections. 

Receiving the defectors at the Bauchi Local Government Secretatiat of the party, Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, assured them of fairness and equity in their new party, adding that PDP remained an indivisible and united party in the state. 

Represented by the Political adviser to the Governor Right Honourable Abubakar Faggo said, “Today Adamu Dako when one saw the mammoth crowd that accompanied you reassured the success of the Party at all levels In 2023 General elections." 

Fago who was flanked by the Special Adviser Projects Monitoring Musa Ahmed Azare said “As new members, I assure you of all rights accrued to the rest of our members. We will ensure that you benefit from every opportunity regarding the welfare of members without sentiments."

They gave Dako PDP membership cards and pledge to register the remaining defectors at their wards. 

Reacting to the defection of the APC members to PDP, the state Publicity Secretary of the APC, Adamu Aliyu Jalla, challenged the PDP and Dako to mention the names of the 7,000 APC members he defected with them to the Party in the state. 

"The crowd that accompanied him to the secretariat of PDP have is no badge on their face that shows they are members of APC. We agree he left the party alone, even people with offices that left the party,  left alone and left their supporters in APC. Our record is intact, we have confirmed all our members are still with us Dako left the alone," he said.
