'My State Will Not Surrender its Sovereignty to Insurgents'- Gov. Bala

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State on Saturday declared that, the state under his watch will not surrender its sovereignty to insurgents for people of the state to do their businesses without any threat to insecurity.

The governor made this known when he led heads of security agencies in the state and other government officials on a sympathy visit to the communities of Garin Sambo and Mansur Villages in Gwana District of Alkaleri local government area of the state over a recent attacked by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.

Governor Bala Mohammed who commiserated with the affected communities, said his administration has taken a strong security approach through vigilante system in a move to bring to an end, insurgents activities across the state including banditry, kidnapping and other forms of crimes and criminality.

He warned community leaders against supporting bandits and kidnappers through information about their communities, saying that the state government would deal decisively with anyone found wanting by the security agencies. 

"We are here on behalf of the Government and people of Bauchi State to pay our condolences over the monumental loss of lives and properties that we have experienced here, many people have been killed by the insurgents and I have come to identify with you and to tell you that we are taking our responsibility as a Government seriously.

"I feel very sad on what is happening, we have taken a lot of initiatives through the vigilante system and intelligence. We will investigate the reports that some members of the security and traditional institutions are collaborating with criminals to carry out nefarious activities and we are hoping that our government proposed vigilante law would help to fish out the criminals and their collaborators."

The governor appreciated the security agencies working in the state for their commitment towards the maintenance of peace and security, reassured people of the state that his administration will continue to do its best in protecting their lives and properties.

Governor Bala Mohammed acknowledged the efforts of the federal government in the fight against insecurity in the county and pledged the readiness of his administration to compliment the efforts at the state level through formation of security initiatives.

In all the areas visited, the communities and their leaders appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for working in close collaboration with security agencies in an effort to tackle security challenges facing different communities in the state.
