No fewer than 18 people have been killed in a road accident on the Lagos-Ibadan highway in southern Nigeria's Oyo State, authorities said on Sunday.
Bisi Kazeem, a spokesman for the National Accident Prevention Council of Nigeria, said the incident took place around 10:20 pm on Saturday near Isara Bridge, where 25 people were killed.
Mr Kazeem added that the accident was caused by excessive speed and violation of driving rules.
Six of the 25 were men, one woman and one boy. However, 17 others could not be identified.
The collision resulted in an explosion and a fire, involving three vehicles, according to a statement signed by Mr Kazeem.
