The People's Democratic Party PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has said that he will not hand over the management of the federal government universities to the state governments.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Paul Ibe, he said that they have noticed that the statement made by the PDP presidential candidate at a general meeting of the Nigerian Bar Association held in Lagos on the issues that is affecting the education sector and the ways forward to solve the problems faced by the sector.
He said that in Atiku's statement, he did not meen he will hand over the responsibility of the federal government's universities to the states if elected in the next presidential election.
"This is wrong because he did not say that when he was answering the questions asked about his policies," he said.
He said, "what Atiku Abubkar means is the steps he will follow in detail to reduce the responsibility of the federal government to run the universities under it."
"Therefore, the issue that Atiku will hand over the management of universities to state governments is not true," he said.
