Gov. Mohammed Lauds NIPR for Launching Book on Community Relations Strategy

Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has lauded the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Bauchi state chapter for launching a book on community relations strategy in the state.

Mohammed made the commendation in Bauchi on Thursday at the official launching of the book.

The book which was launched by the Bauchi state chapter of NIPR is entitled 'Community Relations Strategy', a premier for public relations of corporate players in developing nations.

The governor, who said that the publication of the book was well conceived and timely, added that the book would go a long way in addressing the practical and intellectual needs of public relations students and practitioners.

He also said that the book would strengthen the public affairs department of corporate organisations in developing nations.

"The production of the book is therefore a step in the right direction and I commend the NIPR, Bauchi state chapter for this laudable initiative.

"I wish to inform this august gathering that the publication is in tandem with my administration's desire to promote scholarship through the repositioning of the education sector," he said.

Mohammed,  however, called on all public relations practitioners as image makers and reputation managers to exhibit a high sense of professionalism and patriotism in the discharge of their responsibilities.

He further urged them to eschew acts that were capable of misleading and causing disaffection among the citizenry in the course of serving their clients and principals.

Also speaking, Alhaji Kabir Kobi, Bauchi state Chairman of NIPR, said that the book is of international standard.

According to him, the book is a compilation of contributions from members of the chapter and beyond which was put together by the chapter's Book Publication Committee under the leadership of the Editor of the book, Mr Hamid Muhammad of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi.

In his contribution, Mr Hamid Muhammed, the editor of the book, said that the book went through rigorous review by many scholars.

He explained that the book also proffer solutions to problems that may arise between corporate organisations, members of staff and the host communities.

"As NNPC has sited oil exploration in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi state, we felt that the issues of oil exploration and the problem of community issues that NNPC faced in the Niger Delter region shouldn't replicate itself at Alkaleri.

"This is one of the key issues that pushed us to focus on this area of community relations," he said.
