Ahead of the 2023 general elections, a brother to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima, Alhaji Usman Shettima has urged Nigerians not to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar whom he described as a political tourist.
Alhaji Usman gave the warning during an event organized by the Assistant Director, Northeast Grassroot Engagement Committee, Tinubu/Shettima presidential campaign council, Mrs. Maryam Alexander in her home town Dass local government area of Bauchi state yesterday.
According to him, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who has been in the habit of living Nigeria for Dubai after losing in any election in his quest to rule Nigeria doesn't deserve the votes of Nigerians.
"My advice to you is that, you should not throw away the water you have available in your kettles just because you have sighted a mere cloud", Shettima said.
"Who is Atiku Abubakar in the Northeast? All I know is that, Atiku Abubakar is from Adamawa but has not done anything for them, he didn't do anything for Adamawa", he said.
"Upon all the myriads of security challenges bedeviling the Northeast Atiku has never for once, whether through print or electronic media, sympathizes with either Adamawa, Borno, Yobe or the Northeast people", he pointed out.
Alhaji Usman said the former Vice President is in the habit of bolting out to Dubai as soon as he loses election and will not be back until after four years.
"We are certain and believing in Allah who gives power to whom he so wish that if Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu wins in 2023 he will never disappoint us, he will certainly bring a lot of progress and development to our nation.
In her remarks, the assistant director, Mrs Maryam Alexander expressed appreciation to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for appointing her to serve in that capacity.
She promised to work with women leaders, coordinators of candidates running for various political offices under the party at the grassroot, among others toward ensuring the victory of the party from top to bottom in 2023.
Mrs Maryam who mocked Bauchi state government for distributing goats as empowerment packages, said that the APC presidential candidate is not after money but the general well-being of Nigerians.
While assuring the presidential candidate of the party that Bauchi and the entire Northeast belong to the APC, Mrs Maryam said that the plights of civil servants and pensioners in Bauchi state is enough to speak volume for the success of the APC ahead 2023.
"Let me inform you that the presidential candidate of our party is ever ready to deliver the much needed dividends of democracy if elected in 2023. On our part, we are very much ready to ensure that we mobilize voters so that APC will beat other candidates with wide margin", she vowed.
Mrs Maryam said that the intention of the campaign council is to mobilize massive votes for the party to defeat the PDP and other political parties such that their mouth will be shut.
"We are going to shut the mouth of the PDP and other political parties with landslide victory so that they won't have anything to say than to accept defeat come 2023", she said.
"Since we have the representative of the vice presidential candidate here with us, we want him to inform him that whether he come to Bauchi for campaign or not, our votes belongs to them because Bauchi is for APC", she further assured.
Mrs Maryam who holds the traditional title of Tauraruwan Dass, vowed to work hard and ensure that the PPD is buried in Dass and Bauchi state for the APC to take over governance in 2023.
Our Corresspondent reports that thousands of APC campaign stickers were distributed to residents of Dass during a street march embarked upon by the convener and her supporters as part of strategy to woo people to the APC.
