Bauchi Parliament Urges to Make Adequate Budgetary Provision for Health Sector

Bauchi state house of Assembly have been urged to make budget deliberation that will increases monies allocated to health secter in 2023 budget appropriation.

The called was made by a non-governmental organization Journalist for Public Development Initiatives J4PD during an advocacy visit to Bauchi state house of Assembly.

Leader of deligation Elizabeth Kah said the main purpose of the visit is to bring out the problem faced by health secter which has to do with budget allocation.

Elizabeth Kah pointed out that with the increase in budgetary allocation to health secter, a lot can be achieved in the uviversal health coverage. 

"The purpose of our visit is to seek for more enrollment in to national health insurance scheme and we want to start with you as a law maker."

Mrs Elizabeth lamented that Bauchi state is signatories to many convention which stipulated allocating of certain percentage of the budgetary allocation to health secter. 

"Here in Bauchi state monies appropriate in to health were diverted to other sectors," she added.

While commending, the speaker Bauchi state house of Assembly Abubakar Y Suleiman represented by deputy speaker Dallami Ahmad Kawule expressed  happiness for the visit and promised to partner with them in the area of improving the health status of their constituents. 

Dallami Kawule recalled that some development partners use to intimate the assembly in their activities but now their is a wide gap in between. 

Kawule assured the organisation of the assembly's readiness to partner with them. 

He also promised to enroll fifty people from his constituency in health insurance scheme, noting that some other members of the assembly will follow suit  when they communicate.
