Ember Month: RTEAN Cautions Members Against Recklessness in Bauchi

The Chairman Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) Bauchi State,Comrade Abdullahi Mohammed,has warned drivers against reckless overtaking and dangerous driving during ember months.

Mohammed gave the advice in an interview with Journalists on Wednesday in Bauchi, Noting that there is heavy traffic and many vehicles  on the highways.

"Drivers driving against traffic have also caused crashes and loss of lives and property on the highway.

“Road accidents are caused by human errors; motorists should always put on the safety belts.

"Avoid speeding, wrong overtaking, use of expired tyres and overloading of goods and passengers," he said.

Mohammed also warned that drivers should have a speed limit of 100 to 110 speedometer where necessary on the highway.

He caution against the use of expired tyres on their vehicles to curtail Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) particularly during the ember months.

The Chairman explained that RTEAN collaborates with Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) , Vehicles Inspection Officers VIO to sensitize drivers in motor parks on the dangers of reckless driving.

"We also warned against drinking alcohol and taking some drugs while on wheels

He said their offices always ensure that vehicles are properly checked in the motorparks before playing highways.

Comrade Mohammed however advised passengers to always caution reckless drivers in order to reduce road crashes on the highways.
