An NGO, KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation has donated a mobile clinic for tuberculosis treatment known as “Wellness on Wheels” (WoW) mobile diagnostic truck to Bauchi state government.
Dr Berthrand Odumen, the Executive Director of KNVC foundation while speaking at the official handing over of the Wellness on Wheels Mobile Diagnostic truck on Thursday in Bauchi, saying the truck will provide Tuberculosis services.
He said the truck donated to the Bauchi government would provide services and also help in the fight against TB in the state.
Dr Odume lamented that TB burden in the country is worrisome, saying
KNCV aims to stop the spread of the epidemic of the second ‘killer’ infectious disease and to prevent the further spread of drug-resistant TB.
"KNCV foundation builds on people's own strengths, capacities and sense of responsibility and focuses the efforts on enabling and improving the capacity of TB control programs and partners to deal with the TB epidemic.
Represented by Dr Mamman Bajehson, Programme Manager Kano Cluster, explained that KNCV provides a full range of services to national TB control programs, local partners, international organizations and other platforms.
He commended the Bauchi government for providing an enabling environment for partners to operate in the state.
In a remark, Governor Bala Mohammmed applauded KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation Nigeria for bringing the intervention in their communities.
He said the government would ensure effective and judicious use of the Wellness on Wheels Mobile deposit truck to the benefits of citizens.
Mohammmed, represented by Dr Sabiu Gwalabe Commissioner of Health, said the present administration has placed the health sector in a higher premium.
The Governor reiterated his commitment to eliminate prevalence ailments such as HIV , Sickle Cell, Tuberculosis among others.
