Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has presented Staff of Office to the 12th Emir of Katagum Alhaji Umar Faruq with a call on him not to engage in partisan politics and exhibited a leadership that would attract more respect to the Emirate.
He also charged the Emir to use his wealth of experience as a retired Federal Permanent Secretary in summoning all the challenges of the new office.
Presenting the Staff of Office at the coronation ceremony in Katagum, Governor Bala Mohammed emphasized the need for the Emir to not only emulate the quality leadership of his late father Alhaji Muhammad Kabir but contribute in introducing more policies aimed at ensuring the wellbeing of his subjects.
Bala Mohammed who acknowledged the contributions of traditional institutions in maintainace of law and order, noted that the ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation of palaces of District Heads embarked upon by his administration would add value to all the six emirate Councils across the state.
Speaking after receiving the Staff of Office, the 12th Emir of Katagum Umar Faruq who appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for the honor, pledged to work with members of the State Council of Emirs in complementing the Government's effort towards improving quality of lives of the people.
The occasion which has Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State as Chairman, saw the presence of Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya, Minister of Education Adamu Adamu, Minster State of industry, trade and investment Maryam Yelwaji Katagum, three former Governors of the State including Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar, Isa Yuguda and Ahmed Muazu.
Also in attendance are Emirs and traditional title holders as well as Head of Agencies and parastals from all parts of the country .
Our Correspondent Isiyaka Ismail Wunti reports that the Governor would all also present similar Staff of Office to the new Emir of Jama'are Nuhu Muhammad Wabi and Emir of Misau Alhaji Ahmed Sulaiman tomorrow at their respective Emirates.
