Bauchi Assembly Passes Bill for Law to Regulate Budget Process, Implementation

The Bauchi state house of assembly has passed a bill for a law to regulate the preparation, presentation, enactment, implementation and oversight of the budget process and other related matters.

This was contained in a summary of Tuesday plenary of the assembly made available to newsmen by the spokesperson of the speaker, Comrade Abdul Ahmad Burra Wednesday.

Burra who said in the summary that the plenary was presided over by his principal, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Sulaiman, pointed out that it was passed following the adoption of report of the House Committee on Appropriation.

According to him, the bill was laid before the house by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Abdulkadir Umar Dewu who is representing Kirfi Constituency.

Burra said in the summary of the plenary that the Committee had explained to the house that the main purpose of the Bill is to get things correctly, especially with budget process in the State.

"According to the Committee, it had sought and received inputs from relevant stakeholders and made comparison with relevant laws of the State", Comrade Abdul Burra noted.

He said that the Committee therefore recommended that the Honourable House pass the Bill into Law.

He added that, in the process, the Chairman House Committee on  Appropriation Hon. Dewu requested the House to allow a Bill be pass through third reading and was seconded by Hon. Babayo Muhammad Hardawa Constituency.

"Upon approval by the Honourable Members, the Speaker directed the Deputy Clerk of the House Lamara Abdu Chinade to carryout the 3rd reading", 

"The Bill is therefore passed into law", the summary of the plenary compiled by the speaker's spokesperson said.
