NDE Trains 65 Unemployed Gaduates in Bauchi

Bauchi State Office of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has commenced five days training for sixty-five (65) unemployed artisans and School leavers on Basic Business Training (BBT) in the State. 

The Director General of the NDE, Abubakar  Nuhu Fikpo said that the training is aimed at creating jobs and reducing the rate of unemployment among the graduates and secondary school leavers to become employers of labour in the Country. 

The DG who was ably represented by the State Coordinator, Lawal Yaya during the opening ceremony of the program in Bauchi, noted that the training will broaden the scope of the youths and also equip them with knowledge in basic business skills. 

According to him, the beneficiaries will be taught how to come up with a good bankable business plan, legal responsibilities and insurance as well as how to recruit some people that will assist them in their businesses. 

He explained that the DG Nuhu Fikpo is passionate and concerned about the youth on how to cater for them to have something going rather than sitting idle which result in their engagement with bad group. 

He said, "that's why the DG is always coming up with new novels and innovative ideas to engage the youths on vocational skills to become direct employers of labour."

He further explained that the training is for five days from Monday to Friday and from 8:30 to 3:00 pm daily, of which the participants would be served with refreshments through the training days. 

Lawal also said that at the end of the training, "we're expecting and hoping that their horizons will be improved and broadened and their thinking skills capacity and experience will be broadened in other to become employers of labour in the State and country at large."

Also spesking, the head of the departmen small-scale enterprise, Jibrin Habibu said that the five days of training will allow the beneficiaries to know how to come up and generate more business ideas in their environment before establishing their own businesses. 

He urged the beneficiaries to pay more attention and have the opportunity to endure to come early during the training period. 

Our correspondent reports that the beneficiaries comprising both males and females were drawn from across the twenty local government areas of the State. 

Some of the beneficiaries interviewed, Ahmed Mohammed from Alkaleri LGA and Aisha Abubakar from Bauchi expressed their joy and happiness for being part of the program. 

They, however, call on the Federal government and NDE to increase the number of slots to enable more Nigerian unemployed youths to benefit from the project.
