SENATE PRESIDENCY: Group of APC Supporters Kicks Against Zoning, Endorses Abdulaziz Yari

A coalition of the All Progressive Congress APC supporters known as One Nigeria Siyasa Bada Gaba Ba have recently expressed their dismay over the decision of their party for zoning of the position of the Senate President to a particular portion of the country.

National Secretary of the group Dalhatu Umar while briefing journalists at the Secretariat of the group in Bauchi, said the decision and position taken by APC about zoning of some political seats is tantamount to deprivation of rights of Nigerians as enshrined in the constitution.

Dalhatu Umar said the party should rather allow democracy to prevail and allow the masses to vote their choices in accordance with their wishes and desires. 

In his words, "The Forum One Nigeria Siyasa Bada Gaba is hereby advising our great party APC and its leadership to shun away from imposing any candidate or openly meddling into the affairs of the legislative arm by allowing the principle of fair play and democratic process to take cause in the election of the 10th Assembly."

"It is imperative for the party to allow the members of the 10th assembly to elect the best capable personality among them, which will help the party in preserving her integrity and virtues." 

"This will also help to protect the party and its president elect from getting into the trap of political enemy who are ever ready to generate hatred and dislike for the party more especially to the president elect, from the various region of the country as a result of meddling into the issues of the 10th assembly even before he enter office, which is uncalled for at this critical time."

Dalhatu added that, "We further suggest that the president elect should be more concerned about the collective directions of his government through better commitment to equality, fairness, inclusivity of every section or region of the country as a yardstick for participatory democratic process."

"Consequently, we therefore advise the president elect and the national working committee of the party to be more logical and implore a sense of belonging to every section by revisiting or reversing the unaccepted and unpopular zoning arrangement at this hours."

This, Dalhatu said, "is to allow democracy take its cause to avoid unnecessary power tussle among the members while competency should serve as a watch dog." 

"Furthermore, we want to enjoin the distinguished senators elect of the 10th assembly to rally round their support to the most experienced and  competent personality among all the candidates and to explore their antecedent, and above all a person who has been tested in various capacity and loyalty to the party as a secret to his development."

Dalhatu further stated that, "The personality we are emphasing is not any other than His Excellency Sen. Abdul’aziz Yari, based on his dedication, loyalty and open arm as a leader to accommodate each and everyone regardless of where you come from, his vision, tenacity, being a goal getter and people orientated personality can no be over emphasize."

"We are soliciting the support the of the senators elect for senator Yari not just because of where he came from or his tribe neither due to his wealth but rather due to his contribution to the party in his state, and the nation at large." 

"The main rationale behind adopting Senator Yari by this great forum One Nigeria Siyasa Bada gaba ba and to seek the for support of the senators elect in taking into consideration of his track record as Governor 8 years and 4 years chairman Governors Forum as well as member federal house."

"His leadership skills cannot be over exaggerated, looking at the political influence he gathered, and the level of which he maintain good relationship among his collogues."

"These are some of his attribute: good skill leadership qualities, versatile, his experience that can easily influence his decision across the various arms of government for the betterment of the law-makers, executives, judicial and the nation at large by ensuring speeding acceleration of services through his leadership  qualities."
