Bauchi State Journalists have received three hundred and fifty bags of 25kg rice as part of the palliative support to cushion the hardship being experienced by people as a result of the fuel subsidy removal.
Presenting the consignment to the Journalists, Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Publicity Comrade Muktar Gidado said the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed carried everyone along including the journalists in all its schemes.
The Special Adviser said in view of the current economic situation in the country, journalists should not be left out for being among the beneficiaries of the palliative support.
He said the government has recognised the contribution of Journalists in the state towards promoting the present administration, hence the need to continue working with them for its success.
Comrade Gidado said although the items will not go all round for journalists in Bauchi considering the limited quantity, also appealed to the leadership of various media platforms to be just and fair in the distribution process.
Various media platforms including the Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Governor's Press Crew, Kauran Bauchi Singers Association and Kaura Social Media among others are the beneficiaries of the 25kg bags of rice.
Responding on behalf of the journalists, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Comrade Umar Sa'idu appreciates the government for the recognition in the palliative support.
He said journalists in the state will always remain committed to promoting the good policies and programmes of the present administration under the stewardship of Governor Bala Mohammed.
He however promised that the state Council will ensure judicious distribution of the and rice across its members.
