NDE Trains 100 Bauchi Unemployed Youth in Livestock, Crops Productions

The Bauchi State chapter of the National Directorate of Employment ((NDE) has begun training of one hundred unemployed people on livestock and crops production under its Sustainable Agricultural Development Skills Training (SADTS). 

Speaking at the orientation and flagging off of the 2023 SADTS training scheme in Bauchi, the NDE Director General, Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo said the training would provides the youth with many opportunities to acquire knowledge required to set up their own agribusinesses.

Fikpo who was represented at occasion by the State Coordinator, Lawal Ali Yaya said the one hundred unemployed people will be engaged for 3 months intensive training on livestock and crops production of their choices. 

He explained that each beneficiaries would be given N15, 000 as stipends for 3 months as transport allowances, adding that one hundred thousand naira (N100, 000) will also be given out as loans to be pay back in 2 years after a period of 6 months monitorium.

In his speech, the NDE Director Rural Employment Promotion ( REP) Dept Mr. Edem O. Duke who was represented by Mr Nkem Ekeamadi explained that the Scheme (SADTS) is designed to impart modern and innovative Agricultural Skills along its value chain to unemployed persons to become self-employed.
Also speaking, the head of training, Zara said, "The scheme will amongst others; create employment for the rural communities through training on modern innovative Agricultural technology (vegetable crops/livestock production Skills) along its value chain."

In his goodwill message, the Emir of Bauchi Dr R Suleiman Adamu, represented by Sarkin Office of Bauchi, Zubairu Aliyu lauded the initiative and NDE for selecting Bauchi as one of the benefiting state in the federation. 

The Emir enjoyed the beneficiaries attention to see it as opportunity for been selected and to put in their best during the training.

Some of the participants who spoke to our correspondent, Abubakar Galadiman and Halima Adamu expressed their profound gratitude to the NDE and federal government for the gesture and promised to use the loan judiciary for the purpose it was meant for in accordance with the guidelines.

Our correspondent reports that the prospective participants were drawn from the Local Government and senatorial districts of the 20 LGA of the State.
