PALLIATIVE SUPPORT: Dass LG Caretaker Chairman Lauds Gov. Bala for Justice and Equity

Dass Local Government caretaker committee chairman Comrade Abubakar Muhammad Jibo has commended Bauchi state governor Bala Mohammed for ensuring justice and equity in the distribution of palliative support of the federal government of Nigeria which is meant to reduce the hardship being experienced as a result of the fuel subsidy removal.

The LG boss who made the remark during Flagg-off of the distribution of 25kg of rice to the people of Dass by the state government through the state ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, also commented the committee that is saddled with the responsibility of carrying out the exercise for its transparency and accountability.

Comrade Jibo said the palliative support comes at a time when many people are in dire need of support from all angles of life, due to the economic situation in the country which led to increase in prices of goods and more importantly foodstuffs.

According to him, "this support is coming at the appropriate time, when our people are in a very critical condition."

He added that, "For this reason, I will like to appreciate the executive governor of Bauchi state because it is during this crucial time that he comes up with this initiative so that this support will reach to the common man, particularly the vulnerable class."

He further stressed that the committee which is saddled with the responsibility of carrying out the distribution exercise across the various local governments in the state has also done so much to deserve commendation. 

He said, "Based on the information we received, in all the local governments where this exercise is carried out, it was done successfully, hence it becomes necessary to appreciate their efforts."

The LG boss reiterated that the 25kg of rice will be approprietly distributed to ensure that the intended target baneficiaries are the recipients. 

On her part, state Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Hajara Yakubu Wanka, says the gesture is a collaboration between the federal and state government to cushion the hardship being experienced by the Nigerians due to fuel subsidy removal. 

According to her, the exercise is in compliance of the directives of Governor Bala Mohammed to start with rice distribution across the 20 local government of the state.

She says Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management is charged with the task of ensuring that this rice reach to the intended target beneficiaries, which according to her is the reason why they have to monitor the exercise to be able to report bact to his excellency the governor of Bauchi state. 

She however commented the caretaker chairman of Dass Local Government Comrade Abubakar Muhammad Jibo for the way he ensure proper coordination of the exercise.

She however appreciated the Bauchi state governor Bala Mohammed for the tremendous support towards ensuring the successful conduct of the exercise, adding that, "His warning is always to make sure that the most vulnerable are the most targeted group that get this."

Emir of Dass His Royal Highnesses Alhaji Othman Bilyaminu Usman on his part, also appreciated the Bauchi state government for coming to the aid of the vulnerables. 

Represented by Alhaji Musa Isa, Magajin Garin Dass, the emir said, "It has been long we see this kind of gathering and today everyone that comes here will go back home with a smiling face."

He said, "This administration always fulfil the promises it made to people and we are very glad that our people are receiving this 25kg bags of rice."

The exercise was done amidst tight security to avoid rancor and beneficiaries were seen carrying their 25kg of rice to their various destinations without any fear.
