Security is Everyone's Responsibility - Bauchi CP

Residents of Azare town, headquarters of Katagum local government area of Bauchi state have been called upon to be security conscious and help the security agencies with useful information that will help in uncovering the criminals and their hideout.

The call was made by the state Commissioner of Police CP Auwal Musa Muhammad while briefing journalists on the recent development and success recorded by the police over a period of time. 

According the commissioner, the Command has recently succeeded in arresting a gang of suspected criminals alleged to have been specialized in stealing of industrial power generator in Azare town.

He said the police command has been working round the clock to secure the lives and property of citizens and checkmate activities of criminal elements in the state. 

According to CP Auwal Musa, "The Command arrested a special gang of thieves who specialized in stealing Mekano Generators particularly at the Open University, the Zonal Cold office of Primary Healthcare Development Agency in Azare, the Azare radio station also in Azare town, all in Katagum local government."

The Commissioner who was at the National Open University Azare study centre premises to address press and crowd, emphasized the need for people to be security conscious and help them with useful information.

"We are here in Azare to fully brief you about the effort the police and other stakeholders on the security sector and also the success recorded."

"If you could remember in the past, there is a gang who come from far, some from Kano, some from Abuja, some from Jigawa and conive to unleash their evil act of stealing generators belonging to government authorities, and in some cases even kill the security guards," he lamented. 

He added that, "In their own thinking, since it is government property, no body will care to follow it up, forgetting that there is a penalty on the killings of people on them." 

"We in collaboration with other security agencies particularly Ahmed Ali Kwara who has been part and parcel of our work, are able to apprehend these generators and those suspects that are in connection with what is called an organized crime, about 10 to 11 of them are all in our net."

CP Auwal further stressed that, "I want to use this opportunity to call on you individually, where ever you find yourselves, security services is your responsibility. Be part of it and help the police, the army, SS and all other stakeholders." 

The Commissioner however appreciate the effort of the Bauchi state government for the support and cooperation given to the police which he said form the basis of their success.
