WORLD BREAST CANCER DAY: Bauchi to Establish Cancer Screening Centres in All LGs

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed said the state government through Ministry of Health would establish Breast Cancer Screening Centres in all parts of the state including rural areas as an effective measures towards addressing the growing cases of the incident across the state.

The Governor gave the indication while receiving a group of Non Governmental Organizations on an advocacy visit to Government House as part of the activities marking 2023 World Breast Cancer Day.

He said this is coming as the government is worried by the increasing cases of breast cancer disease in Bauchi State. 

The Governor added that state government has therefore indicated a strong commitment to partner with groups and non-governmental organizations NGOs in areas of creating awareness on the dangers associated with the disease.

Represented by Secretary to the State Government Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, Governor Bala Mohammed said government is concern with the number of deaths being recorded as a result of breast cancer related diseases.

To respond to the ugly situations according to Governor Bala Mohammed, it becomes necessary to take a bold step part of which is the establishment Breast Cancer Screening Centres in all parts of the state including rural areas.

Also speaking, the State Director National Orientation Agency Alhaji Nuru Yusuf Kobi who underscored the importance of the advocacy assured that the Agency would also contribute in enlightening public.

Speaking on behalf of the NGOs, a leader of the group Aisha Bappa while commending the state government for supporting the annual advocacy programme, noted that the group has embarked on a free breast cancer screening exercise as part of activities marking the day.
