Bauchi Deputy Governor Receives Briefing From Members of Committee on State oF Basic Education

The Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau on Friday directed members of the committee constituted to assess the level of challenges in the delivery of Basic Education to approach their task with unwavering commitment, determination and innovation to achieve excellence.

Auwal Jatau who is the chairman of the committee gave the directive during a meeting with members of the committee held at the conference hall of his office.

The Deputy Governor noted that, the challenges in the delivery of basic education are not insurmountable, hence the need for members of the committee to bring their expertise, creativity, and passion to the exercise in order to address the situation.

He explained that, Governor Bala Mohammed's concern for the state of education in state prompted the establishment of the committee as part of his deep commitment and vision of providing access to quality education for all children at basic level.

He said the present administration has invested immensely in the basic education sub-sector, especially on construction and renovation of schools across the state, and therefore reiterated its readiness to lay a foundation for a brighter future, where every child in the State has access to quality education.

"It is my honour and privilege to welcome you to the meeting of the Committee constituted by His Excellency, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON (Kauran Bauchi) on the State of Basic Education in our dear Bauchi state. You may recall that, the governor set up this committee on the 4th of September, 2023 to assess the level of challenges in the delivery of education particularly at the basic level due to the huge investment made by this administration in the sector.


"As we gathered here today, there is a need for us as key stakeholders to evaluate the effectiveness of delivery of education at basic level. A comprehensive assessment of the learning environment, including the condition of facilities is critical in ensuring that learning raises to its highest standard."

Auwal Jatau hoped that the reports presented on the outcome of the assessment exercise so far conducted would provide the committee with a unique opportunity to not only identify the key issues hindering effective learning in schools, but also to develop sustainable solutions that will set the state on a path towards educational excellence.

 The Deputy Governor then extended his deepest gratitude to members of the committee for their tireless effort on the exercise conducted so far and expressed confident that, with the collective support of all stakeholders, the state government will revolutionize basic education system and give wings to the dreams of countless children in the state.

On her part, the Commissioner for Education and Secretary of the committee, Dr Jamila Mohammed Dahiru, briefed the committee on the assessment exercise so far conducted by the ministry of education.
