Group of persons who benefited from the 16 years of former house of representatives speaker Yakubu Dogara's representation have organized a birthday event in his honor.
A press statement made available to newsmen in Bauchi by the Pioneer Chairman of the group on Friday, Engr. Isheni Yakubu said that the beneficiaries of the former speaker's legacy cut across ethnic and religious background.
"We are all beneficiaries of Rt. Hon.Yakubu Dogara, people that cut across different religion, tribes, local government and even state but bound with single entity of being employed into different parastatals and Ministries", engineer Yakubu said.
The Pioneer Chairman who said the event is scheduled for December 26, informed that other beneficiaries include businessmen and women.
According to him, the intervention of the former speaker has enable thousands of beneficiaries set up their businesses and become not only self reliant but employers of labour in their different endeavours.
He said after careful analysis of the work done by the immediate past Speaker has become a legacy not only in his Bogoro, Dass and Tafawa Balewa federal constituency but his home state, Bauchi.
Engineer Yakubu who explained that as beneficiaries, they found it necessary to come together and appreciate the former speaker for the good works, added that they have resolved to create a forum that will enable them continue with the good work he has done.
"His legacy cannot be forgotten and must be continued. That's why we initiate and mobilized ourselves to anchor this program without him spending a kobo.
Engr. Isheni Yakubu who recalled that the group was created since 2014 with many members, noted that Isaac Yalams has been assigned to be Chairman Central Committee of the upcoming event.
He further explained that the pioneers members are making efforts and collaborating with the central working Committee to ensure the success of the program.
Engineer Yakubu said that under the gesture of the former speaker, thousands of students are currently enjoying scholarship at various tertiary institutions across the country.
He said, apart from the scholarship offers, thousands of applicants into tertiary institutions are having their Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) fees paid by the former speaker to enable them have equal access to higher education.
