The Group, Miri Community Peace Mediators (CPM) in Bauchi State would partner with National Drugs law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to curb the menace of drug abuse among the youth in the society.
Our corresspondent reports that the community group advocated fostering community well-being and combating drug abuse in the society.
Malam Lawal Umar, the Leader of the group made the commitment when they paid a visit to the State Commandant of the Agency, Mr Aminu Ali on Wednesday in Bauchi.
He expressed their commitment to collaborating with the agency to address the root causes of substance abuse and contribute to creating a safer and healthier community.
“The group engages in sensitising community members on the importance of rejecting violence, especially gender-based violence, awareness in schools and communities.’’
Umar stressed that the link between substance abuse and violence often serves as a major catalyst for conflicts at homes and within the community.
The leader explained that the group consist of 25-members with 10 male and 15 female, and has been actively engaged in conflict resolution and awareness campaigns within the Miri community.
He commended Attah Sisters Helping Hand (ASHH) Foundation and Women for Women International (WFWI) for supporting their activities.
Responding, the state commandant commended the effort of the group and pledged to collaborate the organization to fight the menace of drug abuse in the society.
Ali acknowledged the crucial role the group plays in promoting peace and fighting substance abuse.
He added that they should always come for advice and reports cases of substance abuse to the agency.
