Nigerian Army Remains Apolitical - Says Bauchi Deputy Governor

Alh Auwal Jatau, the Deputy Governor of Bauchi state on Sunday, says that since the return of democratic rule in Nigeria, the Nigerian Army has remained apolitical and focused on its role of defending the integrity of the nation.

Jatau stated this on Sunday during the 2023 West African Social Activities (WASA) organized by the Nigerian Army, 33 Artillery Brigade, Shadawanka Barracks in Bauchi state.

He added that the Nigerian Army has also been consistently intervening in local crises and counterinsurgency.

According to him, this is an indication of a brighter future for Nigeria's democracy, hoping that the Army and other arms of the military would maintain the posture for their development and development of the nation in general.


“It is gratifying to note that the relationship between the army and the people of Bauchi State has been very cordial and I'm happy to tell you that our government has been working in partnership with the Nigerian Army to ensure peace and Security in the State.

“To this end, the government has been providing the Army and other security Agencies the necessary logistic support for the effective discharge of their duties,” he said.

The Deputy Governor further congratulated the Brigade Commander, Nigerian Army, 33 Artillery Brigade, Bauchi, Brig:-Gen Emmanuel Egbe on his achievements recorded since he took over the mantle of leadership in the Brigade.

He assured the Commander, his officers and men as well as the entire security organizations in the state that the current administration would not relent in its effort to provide logistic support and ensure conducive working environment for all of them to curb insecurity and all forms of crime and criminality across the state.

In a welcome address, the Brigade Commander expressed gratitude to the administration of governor Mohammed for its numerous support to the army and assured that the force would not relent in working towards defending the nation.

Some of the highlights of the event included cultural dancing by some major ethnic groups, Tug of war between the Barracks women and Corps members, drama, presentation of awards to officers and men for outstanding performance among others.
