UNICEF to Support Strategic Education Planning in Bauchi

Bauchi Field Office (BFO) of the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) has reiterated its commitment to supporting education planning that will in turn improve standard and quality service delivery in the sector. 

The Bauchi state Ministry of Education in Collaboration with United Nations Children Fund UNICEF, Bauchi Field Office has met with Education Managers on Validation and Dissemination of the State Education Strategic Plan SESP and the State Education Strategic Operations Plan SESOP. 

A cross section of participants from Bauchi state Education Managers, and key stakeholders in the Education sector gathered during the meeting, to validate and disseminate SESP and SESOP Documents for Strategic Education Plan in Bauchi state

Speaking at the opening ceremony The Chief of Field, Bauchi Field office of the United Nations Children Fund UNICEF, Rane Tushar in his massage, emphasised on the importance of Strategic planning in achieving and improving effective quality Education. 

Dr  Tusharsaid the importance strategic planning in achieving the set objectives in improving effective education systems. 

He said that a well thought out plan will result in easy operation which will in turn improve learning in the schools stressing that UNICEF is always ready to give necessary technical support. 

The UNICEF CFO said that using accurate data in planning will always bring out best results as it will afford implicators the opportunity to know which areas to focus on. 

He advised the participants to ensure that they did their best to get accurate data to feature in the SESP and SESOP validation and dissemination. 

The State Commissioner of Education, Dr Jamila Dahiru commended UNICEF for supporting the state to improve the education sector. 

Jamila said that the various interventions by UNICEF has really helped in the reform of the education sector particularly since the inception of the present administration. 

The Commissioner also stressed the importance of the meeting which She said will focus on the validation and dissemination of the SESP and SESOP which will be implemented for the next few years. 

She advised the relevant agencies participating in the meeting to ensure that accurate data was used where necessary so that implementation of the plan will be easy. 

The Commissioner also commended National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), Ondo for the facilitation of the meeting saying that the result will be a guide in the implementation of the reforms in the education sector. 

She particularly commended the Acting DG of NIEPA, Dr. A. D. Shofoyeke, for allowing his staff to come to Bauchi for facilitation of the meeting. 

The Commissioner however decried the non availability of updated data in the planning of operation stressing that updated data is very important in planning education policies. 

Jamila assured that Government will work with the outcome of the meeting in order to move the education sector forward. 

While Commending UNICEF for the strategic plan, the commissioner described the meeting as a milestone achievement to the Bauchi State Government .

The Ag Director General/CEO, National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) Nigerian, Ondo, Dr.  David A. Shofoyeke, described  the formulation of the State Education Strategic Plan (SESP) and State Education Strategic Operation Plan (SESOP) as a testament to the collective vision for an inclusive, equitable, and quality education system in Nigeria. 

He said These plans are not just documents; they are blueprints for the future of the children, the foundation of the nation's growth, and the beacon guiding it toward achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 which is ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Dr Shofoyake said, "Our journey here has been one of collaboration, consultation, and comprehensive planning. We have engaged stakeholders at all levels – from educators and administrators to parents and community leaders." 

He said that, "This inclusive approach has ensured that our plans are reflective of the diverse needs and aspirations of our society. It is this inclusiveness that will drive the success of our initiatives."
