Bauchi YAN Inaugurates New Parliament

The newly constituted Parliament of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Bauchi State chapter was on Saturday formally inaugurated with a call on members to shun violence in whatever form. 

The Parliament was inaugurated by the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), Comrade Mohammed Sani Hassan at the Conference Hall of BIC, Bauchi with Comrade Rt Hon Sani Danaudi Mohammed emerging as the new Speaker. 

While speaking shortly before the swearing-in, Mohammed Sani Hassan urged the new Parlimentarians to emulate the immediate past Parliament in order to achieve the set objectives of YAN even better than what they achieved. 

He reminded them that main objective of YAN is positive youths mobilization for a better Nigeria stressing that the Youths cannot afford to fail in their responsibilities of ensuring that the country did not fail. 

The Chairman, BoT expressed confidence in the ability of the new Speaker to move the State chapter of YAN to greater heights considering his pedigree as a Comrade and educated person. 

Also speaking, the immediate past Speaker of the Parliament, Rt Hon Alhaseeno Adam warned the new leadership against engaging in partisan politics stressing that members of YAN have different political interests and ideologies which must not be seen to be played in the course of ruining the affairs of YAN. 

He stressed that the Parliament has power to assemble and discuss issues of national interest especially the way it affects the well-being of the Youths adding that it can take decisions on how to sort out such issues. 

In his acceptance speech, the new Speaker, Rt Hon Sani Danaudi Mohammed commended his colleagues for the confidence reposed in him and other Parliamentarians assuring that they will not let them down. 

He also assured to lead by example by ensuring that he will always walk the talk no matter what happens because according to him, leadership is a responsibility that must be effectively and effectively discharged. 

The new Speaker however solicited for the cooperation and support of all the members stressing that he and the Parliament alone cannot do it stressing that it should be a collective leadership.

Danaudi Sani added that the Parliament will liaise with other Parliament in the North East subregion to ensure that a strong synergy was created in order to move the subregion forward. 

The new Speaker then charged the Parliamentarians to always have listening ears from their various Constituencies across the State in order to know what to deliberate on during seatings. 

He then assured that with the formal inauguration, the Parliament will immediately swing into action stressing that, "There is no time to waste. We must hit the ground running."
