In a profound gesture of solidarity, the Caretaker Chairman of Katagum Local Government Area, Musa Azare, has extended his deepest sympathies to the victims of the recent floods that have devastated 35 communities across the LGA, including Sabon Gari village.
Addressing the affected residents, Chairman Azare conveyed the heartfelt concern of the entire LGA administration, recognizing the severe hardships these communities are enduring due to the widespread destruction of homes and livelihoods.
He assured the victims that the government remains steadfast in its commitment to providing all necessary support during this challenging moments.
In a demonstration of this pledge, Chairman Azare, accompanied by His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Umar Farouk II, OON, Emir of Katagum, and other dignitaries, personally visited the hardest-hit areas to assess the extent of the damage and to offer solace to those in distress.
Reinforcing this commitment to humanitarian relief, Chairman Azare announced that Katagum Local Government has allocated One Million Naira (N1m) towards ongoing relief efforts, aimed at delivering immediate assistance and helping the affected families begin the process of rebuilding their lives.
Complementing this effort, the Emir of Katagum, Alh. Umar Faruk, revered for his compassionate and proactive leadership, donated Two Million Naira (N2m) to further ease the burden on the flood victims.
Adding to these efforts, His Excellency Senator Bala AbdulKadir Mohammed, CON, Executive Governor of Bauchi State, has made a substantial contribution by donating 900 bags of grains, including 300 bags each of rice, maize, and sorghum, along with 250 mattresses and blankets for the displaced families. Furthermore, the Governor has directed the immediate renovation of the collapsed Azare-Potiskum Federal Highway near Buskuri town.
Musa Azare therefore emphasized the collaborative efforts between the LGA administration, the Emir of Katagum, and the Bauchi State Government, as they work hand-in-hand to bring relief and hope to the affected communities.
