A group of youths in Bauchi known as Chikare Non Negotiable CNN, led by Comrade Umar Dalhatu, has launched a campaign to persuade Retired Comptroller Muhammad Abubakar Umar to contest for the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat in the 2027 elections.

The group, which held a meeting at the Bauchi State capital on Saturday, expressed confidence in Umar's capacity and capability to lead, citing his impressive track record and antecedents.
According to Comrade Umar, the group's leader, "We believe in his leadership qualities and vision. We'll compel him to accept this call to service. We're convinced that he has what it takes to represent our district effectively."
Umar said, "The idea of this movement was conceived around August in which we unanimously come to the conclusion that Bauchi South needs a patriotic citizen who has the interest of the masses at heart."
"And considering the track record of Chikare, we found no other person that him to lead us come 2027."
The group cited Chikares's achievements during his tenure as Comptroller, including his commitment to transparency and accountability, as reasons for their choice. "We need someone with his experience and expertise to represent us in the Senate."
To strategize their movement, the group inaugurated coordinators for the 7 local governments in the district. The coordinators, who were sworn in during the meeting, pledged to mobilize support for Umar's potential candidacy.
This development has generated excitement among political enthusiasts in Bauchi State, as Chikare's potential candidacy could significantly impact the 2027 senatorial race. Political analysts see this as a strategic move by the group to draft a credible candidate who can win the election.
