Teachers in Bauchi State lauded the Federal Government's Accelerated Senior Secondary Education Programme (ASSEP), which has introduced innovative approaches to secondary education.
ASSEP's components, including Virtual Reality for practical science experience, Teacher Training, Curriculum development, Intensive Coaching, Quiz Competition, and Skill Development, have yielded impressive results for both teachers and students.
The Project Implementation Team (PIT) of ASSEP, comprising officials from the Office of the Vice President and North East Development Commission (NEDC), will host an engagement session on Tuesday at Hazibal Suites and Hotel in Bauchi
Malam Sani Boto, a teacher, speaking to journalists after the engagement meeting described ASSEP as a "good initiative by the Federal Government" that will revolutionize not just schools, but teachers and students as well.
“The program has significantly impacted teachers and students, enhancing productivity and understanding.
"The introduction of Virtual Reality has made complex concepts more accessible and engaging for our students.
“ASSEP has empowered us as teachers to deliver high-quality education, and we're grateful for this opportunity."
On his part, Mr. Rabiu Shehu, President All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Public Schools (ANCOPPS). also commended ASSEP's positive results, advocating for sustainability and extension to other schools.
"ASSEP has yielded impressive outcomes in terms of learning.
“We must ensure its continuity and expansion to benefit more students." he noted
In her, Dr. Mariam Masha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Regional Development Programmes and Chairperson of the PIT. "We're committed to ensuring ASSEP's success and sustainability."
She said the session is aimed to assess the program's implementation since its launch on May 18, 2024, by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima.
“ASSEP goes beyond just schooling; it's about total education, focusing on multiple aspects of an individual's human capital.
“ASSEP is part of the Federal Government's efforts to transform education outcomes in North East states, aligning with President Bola Tinubu's renewed Hope Agenda.
“The program focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Agriculture (STEMA), driving future development and human empowerment in Nigeria's North East,” said Dr. Masha,
The engagement session, brings together stakeholders in the education sector and relevant partners to discuss ASSEP's progress and future plans.
