2025 BUDGET: Dass Local Government Sets New Standard for Inclusive Governance

In a groundbreaking move, Dass Local Government, under the leadership of Executive Chairman Comrade Mohammed Abubakar Jibo, has adopted a bottom-up approach to governance, prioritizing citizen engagement and participation in the budgeting process.

This innovative approach was evident at the recent 2025 Budget Consultation held at Government Day Secondary School Wandi Exams Hall on Monday, October 21, 2024.

Comrade Jibo emphasized that this marks a significant shift from the traditional top-down approach, where citizens were not consulted on their preferences.

The event brought together diverse stakeholders, including road transport owners, people with special needs, market men and women, farmers, and traders, to contribute to the budgeting process.

Jibo revealed that while the 2024 budget allocated over N5 billion to three sectors: Administrative, Economic, and Social, the proposed 2025 budget increases by 50% to N7.6 billion, comprising recurrent and capital expenditures.

He said the revenue sources include Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and external funding from federal allocations, grants, and aid.

The chairman outlined his administration's priorities which include Improving access and quality of education, enhancing healthcare services and infrastructure as well as supporting farmers and agricultural development.

Other areas are youth and women empowerment, through creating opportunities for economic growth and social development, Poverty Reduction; through Implementing initiatives to reduce poverty and inequality.

He added that Infrastructural Development, through upgrading infrastructure, including water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities as well as capital development; through Investing in capital projects to drive economic growth, are also among his key priorities.

By embracing inclusive governance and prioritizing citizen needs, the Dass Local Government sets a shining example for other local governments to follow.
