Bauchi Governor Commends FG's Economic Efforts

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has praised the Federal Ministry of Finance for its efforts to improve Nigeria's economy, particularly in addressing macroeconomic challenges affecting ordinary citizens.

The governor made this statement while receiving the Minister of Finance, Dr. Wale Edun, in Bauchi, as part of the National Council on Finance and Economic Development (NACOFED) conference.

Governor Bala acknowledged his role as a vocal critic of federal policies but commended Dr. Edun's efforts to improve Nigeria's economy.

He highlighted the paradox of Nigeria being a top oil-producing nation while many citizens face significant hardship, urging the Federal Government to optimize the oil and gas sector for the benefit of the masses.

The governor emphasized the need for continued collaboration, inclusion, and partnerships among stakeholders to ensure transparency, equity, and justice.

He stressed collective accountability to drive rapid socioeconomic growth and development in the country.

Dr. Edun praised Governor Bala for transforming Bauchi State into a business-friendly environment through various developmental projects.

He noted that the presence of top financial experts in Bauchi provides a unique platform to deliberate on pressing financial and macroeconomic issues affecting Nigeria.

The Minister assured the gathering of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to resolving the nation's economic challenges.

He emphasized the importance of governors' active support in fostering economic development, critical to achieving sustainable growth.

The NACOFED 2024 meeting in Bauchi is expected to attract investors and boost the state's economy. As Nigeria continues to implement significant reforms to stabilize its economy, the World Bank reports modest growth, improved fiscal health, and rising foreign exchange reserves. The conference aims to build upon these reforms, igniting growth and job creation in the country.
