Senator Shehu Umar Buba, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, has commissioned a mosque in Tsakanin Tafawa, a hard-to-reach community in Toro Local Government Area.
The senator, who is also the Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security, promised to provide portable water and solar electricity to the community.
Senator Buba lamented the lack of basic amenities in the area, stating that he has seen firsthand the difficulties faced by residents.
"I have crisscrossed all the roads and I know of the challenge of the road networks and the situation of the area," he said.
The senator, who donated N10 million for the completion of the mosque, also promised to build toilet facilities and provide carpet to beautify the mosque.
He announced an additional donation of N10 million to kick-start the building of an Islamic school in the community.
Residents of Tsakanin Tafawa expressed their gratitude to Senator Buba, praising his efforts to bring development to the community.
Muhammad Musa, a resident, said, "The joy I feel today cannot be described, I give all the thanks to Allah for making us see this day."
Another resident, Muhammadu Kabiru, appealed to Senator Buba to also address the community's need for drinking water and a road.
"We have cried about this road for many years, and we will be grateful if you can construct culverts for us," he said.
