Jigawa Family Alleges Medical Negligence in Daughter's Death, Urges Governor Namadi to Investigate, Take Action

The family of Fatima Alfa Umar has accused doctors and nurses at Rashid Shikoni Federal University Teaching Hospital of negligence leading to her death after a Caesarean operation on October 21.

Hajiya Fatima Widi Halo, former Commissioner of Women Affairs, claimed that negligence caused Fatima's death, citing instances of medical malpractice in Jigawa hospitals.

According to Widi, "Five women died in one day at Rashid Shikoni Teaching Hospital. We won't let this go unchecked."

Fatima Widi also alleged that, "Woman delivered outside labor room due to nurse harassment at Dutse General Hospital."

According to the family of the deceased, neglect and improper care by the hospital have resulted in Fatima Alfa Umar's death.

Fatima therefore appealed to Governor Malam Umar Namadi to address the issue before it escalates.

On the contrary, Dr. Jibirin Abdullahi, who performed the operation, denied wrongdoing.

He said, "Fatima was under nurses' care with specific instructions not to eat until a certain time. Unfortunately, she ate food prematurely, leading to complications and her death."
