The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has commended Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state for the completion of the renovation of the state’s NYSC permanent orientation camp.
The Director General of NYSC, Brig:-Gen Yushau Ahmed, made the commendation in Bauchi on Friday during the swearing in ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘C’ stream I corps members at the orientation camp in Wailo, Ganjuwa LGA.
Represented by the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Rifkatu Yakubu, the DG also lauded the governor for embarking on construction of more structures in the camp, saying, this would make the camp more conducive for both the corps members and NYSC staff.
“Let me use this opportunity to specially commend the government of Bauchi State for their unwavering commitment to the realisation of NYSC objectives in the state.
“I am indeed happy for the complete renovation of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp and the ongoing construction of additional structures in the Camp.
“There can be no better demonstration of commitment, love and fatherly care than what we are seeing in the camp now. It is now clear for all to see that the governor is a great lover of the youths and particularly the corps members.
“As we continue to savour the beauty of this new camp; may I assure His Excellency and the good people of Bauchi that the corps members will continue to provide services where they are most needed in the state, especially in the rural areas,” he said.
He explained that out of the 1,600 corps members posted to the state, a total of 979 corps members comprising of 492 females and 487 males were successfully registered before the swearing in ceremony.
On his part, the state governor who was represented by Mr Ibrahim Kashim, the Secretary to the state government, said that the people of the state comprehended and supported the goals and objectives of the NYSC scheme.
This, he said was the reason why the state government decided to collaborate with the scheme in every possible way to ensure the success of the NYSC in the State.
“To this end, I directed a comprehensive renovation and construction of new facilities at the NYSC permanent orientation camp to provide a more conducive environment for youth Corps members during the three-week orientation exercise.
“As you can see, some of the construction work is still on going while most of the renovation work have been completed.
“We will continue to do our best to ensure that we give you all the best treatment we can in Bauchi state,” said the governor.
