Bauchi First Lady Raises Alarm Over Rising Case Sexual Assault

The Bauchi State Government has expressed deep concern over the increasing cases of sexual assault in the state. The wife of the Governor, Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed, revealed that the state action committee on sexual and gender-based violence has recorded several disturbing cases, which have left many victims traumatized.

According the First Lady, "One such case, which has sent shockwaves through the state, involved a father who impregnated his biological daughter twice."

She said, "the victim's father, who is from Jigawa, allegedly molested his daughter after her mother left her in his care."

"The mother later returned and discovered she was also pregnant for her husband. Tragically, the mother suffered a stroke and died after giving birth. The daughter, who was chased away by her mother's family, was forced to return to her father's house, where she was repeatedly molested."

Dr. Aisha said, "The father was eventually arrested and imprisoned for 7 year, adding that the state government has taken custody of the victim and is providing her with necessary support and care."

Dr. Mohammed also cited another case where a mother forced her daughter to have sex with multiple men. The committee has been working to provide support and care to the victim.

The state government has vowed to take drastic measures to combat the rising cases of sexual assault. Dr. Mohammed stated that the committee will use the media to prosecute perpetrators and shame them to serve as a deterrent.

She also revealed that the state government has recorded over 80 cases of sexual assault, with many more still unreported. Dr. Mohammed appealed to residents to report any cases of sexual assault to the authorities, promising that the state government will do everything possible to support victims and bring perpetrators to justice.
