The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended two individuals, Ibrahim Mohammed Inuwa, 26, and Ukasha Abdulmalik, 17, for vandalism and theft of government assets worth millions at ongoing project sites.
In a press releases signed by the Police Public Relations Officer SP Ahmed Muhammad Wakil, said, "The suspects were caught red-handed on December 5, 2024, at about 11:00 AM loading a stolen concrete cave belonging to the Bauchi state government."
Wakil said, "The operation was led by SP David Silas, who oversees the Command's Works Department, in conjunction with the Bauchi State Ministry of Works."
"During investigation, Ibrahim, the principal suspect, claimed he purchased the stolen concrete caves for ₦350 each from two unidentified individuals along Emir’s Drive, Bauchi. He allegedly used his truck to transport the stolen items to his residence," the PPRO added.
"The police are actively pursuing other suspects involved in the crime. Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, emphasized the Command's commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against vandalism and urged residents to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station."
Wakil disclosed that, "The recovered truck and stolen concrete caves have been taken as exhibits. The police command has assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to ensure the perpetrators face the full weight of the law."
