The Federal Government has launched the Greater Dutse Water Supply Project in Jigawa State, a ₦59.5 billion initiative aimed at addressing the perennial water scarcity in the state capital and its environs.
Governor Malam Umar Namadi and the Federal Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Terlumun Utsev, performed the groundbreaking ceremony in Sintilmawa, Ringim Local Government Area.
The project is expected to provide safe and reliable water to over 1.5 million residents, enhancing their quality of life and boosting public health ¹.
The project, awarded to Jidadu Ventures Nigeria Limited, has a designed pumping capacity of about 55 million liters per day and is expected to be completed within 24 months.
Its components include the construction of tube wells, installation of heavy-duty generators, water transmission pipelines, internal transmission pipeline networks, water booster pumping stations, and giant water reservoirs.
Governor Namadi expressed his administration's commitment to improving water supply, commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government for fulfilling their promise to undertake the project.
Professor Utsev hailed the project as a testament to the government's commitment to fostering sustainable development across Nigeria ¹.
