USAID State2State Activity Commences Quarterly Conflict Prevention Dialogue

The USAID Nigeria-funded State Accountability, Transparency, and Effectiveness (State2State) Activity has commenced a two-day Bauchi State Quarterly Conflict Prevention and Mitigation Dialogue for the first quarter of its Fiscal Year (FY2025). 

In an opening remark, Bauchi Field Office's Team Lead for the USAID State2State Activity, Mrs. Rabi Ekele, reaffirmed the program’s commitment to fostering peaceful, equitable, and sustainable governance in Bauchi State. 

Represented by Mr. Habila Salem, Mrs. Ekele expressed gratitude to the participants for honoring the invitation and encouraged productive deliberations throughout the dialogue.

Outlining the objectives of the dialogue, Conflict Specialist of State2State Activity, Bauchi Field Office, Mr. Mathias Yake emphasizing its focus on progress updates, knowledge sharing, and action planning. 

Mr Yake said the goals also included reviewing the implementation of previous action plans, highlighting successes, challenges, and lessons learned, as well as experiences sharing by stakeholders in mitigating farmer-herder conflicts in Bauchi State.

He said the dialogue aims to enhance participants' understanding of conflict mitigation and prevention strategies, identify emerging conflict drivers and their impact on revenue generation as well as service delivery in basic education, primary healthcare, and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sectors.

The event brought together stakeholders from various sectors to exchange insights towards addressing the challenges of conflict prevention and resolution, particularly in farmer-herder relations.

Our correspondent reports that the event which is being held in Bauchi, aimed to enhance conflict management and promote sustainable governance reforms.

The dialogue underscores USAID’s dedication to promoting accountability, transparency, and effectiveness in governance across the seven benefiting states of Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Gombe, Kebbi and Sokoto.
