ATBUTH Celebrates A Years Of Resilience & Achievements, Honors Outstanding Staff Amidst Challenges

The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) recently hosted a grand end-of-year ceremony to commemorate its numerous achievements in 2024, while acknowledging the exceptional contributions of its staff members.

The event, which took place at the hospital's premises, was attended by esteemed dignitaries, hospital management, staff, and other stakeholders.

In his keynote address, Chief Medical Director Professor Yusuf Bara Jibrin reflected on the hospital's remarkable progress in 2024, despite facing significant challenges.

In a press statement signed by the head of Public Relations Unit of the hospital Malam Usman Abdullahi Koli (ANIPR), said the CMD highlighted several notable achievements, including the successful implementation of e-health software, which has greatly enhanced healthcare delivery; the establishment of a responsive ambulance service, providing timely emergency care; and the introduction of home-based geriatric care, catering to the needs of elderly patients.

Koli added that, "Professor Jibrin emphasized the hospital's commitment to reducing maternal and child mortality through the provision of free cesarean surgeries."

"He also announced the ongoing expansions at the ATBU Gubi Campus and the securing of a capacity-building grant for vaccine clinical trials, demonstrating the hospital's dedication to advancing medical research and education."

While celebrating these achievements, Professor Jibrin also acknowledged the challenges confronting the hospital, including high electricity bills, constraints in human and capital resources, energy and water shortages, and resistance to digital transformation.

He emphasized the need for collective effort and collaboration among staff, management, and stakeholders to address these challenges and ensure the hospital's continued progress.

As a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication, 120 staff members from various departments received commendation letters for their outstanding service. This gesture aimed to motivate and inspire staff to continue delivering exceptional healthcare services.

The ceremony concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment among staff, management, and stakeholders to work together in addressing the challenges facing the hospital and to build on its achievements in the years to come.
