Bauchi Governor Swears In 8 New Commissioners

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, yesterday swore in eight new commissioners, following a cabinet reshuffle that saw the removal of five commissioners.

The governor had recently announced the cabinet reshuffle, aimed at reinvigorating the service and enhancing effective governance and policy implementation.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Mohammed explained that five of the new commissioners replaced those recently dropped, while two filled the vacancies left by former Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning & Multilateral Coordination, Alhaji Aminu Hammayo, now Secretary to the State Government, and the late Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Jalam, former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. The remaining appointee will head the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development.

The new commissioners and their portfolios are:

- _Ministry of Information & Communication_: Alh. Usman Usman Shehu
- _Ministry of Agriculture_: Dr. Iliyasu Aliyu Gital
- _Ministry of Livestock Development_: Dr. Bala Musa Lukshi
- _Ministry of Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs_: Hon. Isa Babayo Tilde
- _Ministry of Works and Transport_: Prof. Titus Saul Ketkukah
- _Ministry of Youth and Sports_: Alh. Adamu Babayo Gabarin
- _Ministry of Lands and Survey_: Alh. Abdullahi Mohammed
- _Ministry of Education_: Dr. Lawal Mohammed Rimin Zayam

Four serving commissioners have also been reassigned to new ministries, including Amina Muhammad Katagum, who will head the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Ibrahim Gambo Galadima, who will lead the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Muhammed Salees Gamawa, who will oversee the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment, and Engr. Binni Abdulkadir, who will head the Ministry for Religious Affairs and Societal Re-orientation.

Governor Mohammed thanked the outgoing commissioners for their service, noting that they were removed not due to any wrongdoing, but as part of the efforts to reinvigorate the service. He congratulated the new appointees, emphasizing that their selection was based on merit, experience, and fair representation.

The governor reminded the new commissioners of the significant responsibilities ahead, urging them to align with his administration's policies and maintain accountability and transparency. He warned that their performance would be closely monitored, with periodic reviews ensuring accountability.

In his vote of thanks, the new Commissioner of Information, Usman Shehu Usman, thanked the governor for the appointment and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in them.
