In commemoration of International Day of Education 2025, the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleimanu, has distributed essential education materials to 1,000 students in Ningi Local Government Area.
The beneficiaries, drawn from various primary and secondary schools, received free reading and writing materials courtesy of the Speaker's Nabalago Foundation. This initiative aims to complement the government's efforts in the educational sector.
According to the Chairman of Ningi Local Government Area, Hon. Nasiru Zakarai, this is the first time such an event has taken place in Ningi. He commended the Speaker for his kind gesture and encouraged parents and students to make good use of the materials.
The event also featured a debate on whose education is more significant for family and societal development between boys and girls. A female student, Bilkisu Yunusa of GDSS Manu, emerged victorious, while Bilal Ahmad and Abdurrashid Saleh of GDSS Ningi took second and third positions, respectively. The State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, rewarded the winners with cash gifts.
The Governor, represented by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jamilu Ummaru Dahiru, praised the Speaker for positively impacting the lives of his constituents. He emphasized the importance of education in combating social vices and announced that the state government is remodeling dilapidated schools and constructing new ones to ensure easy access to quality education.
