The Kaltungo carnival, an annual cultural festival, has come and gone, but the memories and the call for unity and peace by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya will linger for a long time.
The carnival, which was held at the stadium venue in Kaltungo, was attended by dignitaries, including the Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, emirs, chiefs, legislators, and people from all walks of life.
In his speech, Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who was represented by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Lt. Col. Abdullahi Bello (Rtd.), praised the carnival for strengthening social ties and celebrating diversity.
He said that his administration would take advantage of cultural events such as the Kaltungo carnival to strengthen the existing unity among the people of Gombe State.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya commended the Mai Kaltungo, Engineer Saleh Mohammed Umar, for his effort to unite the people and have sustainable peace. He pledged to support the carnival in boosting tourism, peace, and economic development in the state.
Also speaking, former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, urged the Federal Government to establish a national institution in Kaltungo Kingdom to enhance federal presence and drive development in the region.
Professor Gana expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reflected on his earlier visit during his tenure as Minister of Information.
He explained the need for inclusive growth and pledged to advocate for the region's development in Abuja, lamenting the absence of significant federal or state projects in Kaltungo.
He stressed the importance of unity and prayers in addressing insecurity and fostering peaceful coexistence.
The Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Meso Dickson, described the carnival as a unifying platform that promotes cultural heritage and economic development.
He commended the leadership of the Mai Kaltungo, Engineer Saleh Mohammed Umar, for preserving traditions and fostering harmony within the community.
The Mai Kaltungo, Engineer Saleh Mohammed Umar, who also serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Gombe State Council of Emirs and Chiefs, addressed the gathering and highlighted the necessity of prayers to complement government efforts in tackling insecurity.
He urged residents to support unity-driven initiatives and expressed appreciation to traditional rulers, government officials, and organizers for their roles in making the event a success.
