Bauchi Bankers Committee Honours Khalid Community Initiative for Outstanding Humanitarian Contributions

The Bauchi Bankers Committee has conferred an Award of Honour on Khalid Community Initiative (KCI) in recognition of its significant contributions to both the committee and humanity at large. 

The NGO, known for its policies aimed at providing essential services and supporting the less privileged, has played a pivotal role in uplifting communities, particularly in Ningi Local Government Area.

Presenting the award, Hon. Yakubu Hashimu Kumbala, Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, applauded Hon. Khalid Garba Barau (Dujiman Ari) for his dedication to humanitarian services. 

Speaking on behalf of the Bauchi Bankers Committee, under the leadership of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kumbala commended Khalid for initiating programs that positively impact lives, particularly among the youth.

Receiving the award, Hon. Khalid Garba Barau (Dujiman Ari) expressed his gratitude to the organisers for the recognition and dedicated the award to his team and volunteers. 

He reaffirmed his commitment to expanding the foundation’s impact, emphasizing that 2025 will be a year of intensified interventions. 

While reflecting on KCI's achievements, he highlighted key milestones, including the donation of delivery kits to pregnant women in Ningi, renovation of boreholes across 10 communities to enhance access to clean water, scholarships for underprivileged students, financial empowerment for street vendors, and several other life-changing initiatives. 

Khalid also took a moment to appreciate the Governor of Bauchi State, thanking him for the opportunity to serve as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Empowerment.

The award ceremony which took place at the Bauchi State Government House Banquet Hall, was attended by top banking executives, including the heads of 17 deposit banks operating in Bauchi, as well as CBN Branch Controllers from Plateau, Taraba, Gombe, and Adamawa States. 

Also in attendance was the Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Rt. Hon. Auwal Muhammad Jatau, who represented the Governor and delivered a goodwill message. Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Aminu Hammayo. 

Other notable figures included the Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development, Dr. Yakubu Adamu, who presented some of the awards, alongside the Commissioners for Culture & Tourism, Water Resources, and several advisers.
